What is qvevri?
An egg-shaped clay vessel, lined with beeswax and buried up to its neck so the earth keeps the wine at a steady, cool temperature while it ferments and ages. Qvevri winemaking is on UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Family
Our family's winery in the village of Ikalto, in Kakheti, Georgia's wine country. The wine is made in qvevri: large clay vessels buried in the ground, the way Georgians have made wine for thousands of years.

Tastings and visits for English-speaking travellers are being set up along with the winery's website. Email hello@iremitwins.com in the meantime.
